IMPORTANT MEETINGS!!
Friday, October 29, 1999 : meet in the morning in one of the labs in the Upper School. There is probably no time after school or during lunch because of the stupid rocket launchings. Meet in the morning at 8:00 AM, and be prompt, THAT MEANS DAN, (ahem, what happened this morning?)- Weekend: maybe meet, if necessary, to get the rain collecting routine underway.
Project Goals : (original url)
Long Term - : We intend to analyze different rain samples for the duration of fall. We would then record these recordings in a journal. We can also use the journal (duotang) to keep track of weather conditions daily from now till due date. Initially in this long term experiment, we can measure the ph of tap water as well. If acidity over the next month or so increases, we can measure tap water as well afterwards to see if Ontario Hydro adapted well enough with their purification process. In order to do this, we will require ph paper (got it, thx Ryan) and perhaps and electronic ph detector. When we test the water, we should keep the ph paper, to show afterwards =) We should also keep the collector distilled everytime, with distilled water.
- Research data, on acid rain. (already under way)
Short term - : Perhaps perform gas chamber experiment, where we burn fossil fuels and watch the ph changes for water.
And as always, whenever you have free time, try to spend a little time researching for information.. I think we have enough written information for now, we just have to sort through it, but we are lacking in pictures, video, etc..... We should try to contact original sources. Including: the Ministry of Natural Resources/Environment, Sierra Group, Greenpeace and so on. Try searching for them on the net, and maybe we'll write a letter to them. We should also try looking up UNIVERSITY resources, and the data/experiments they performed.
